Interaction between guests and security

Our VBN server filters out Windows file-sharing traffic, thus ensuring that there are no interactions between guests. The exception to this would be when there is a request made by hotel guests for a specific peering network.

"Man-in-the-middle" Attacks

These attacks occur where a third party sets up a personal computer to gather traffic from a guest machine. However, these attempts are prevented within the inter-touch network through the use of the VBN (as only authorised clients can connect to the network), and through other security measures implemented. This means that no guest can view another guest's traffic simply by virtue of being on the same shared network infrastructure.

Viruses

inter-touch systems have been proven to be very robust when it comes to resisting damage from viruses, worms and other malicious code. In spite of this, inter-touch recommends that users install any commercially available virus protection programs in their computers to protect themselves from viruses while accessing the public Internet. It is also imperative that guests keep their virus definitions and security patches for their operating system up to date in order to ensure protection from newly released viruses.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

inter-touch supports ANY and ALL VPN systems that comply with the PPTP/ IPSEC standards.

Wireless Security

The inter-touch network is based on evolving wireless technology which is inherently insecure. We therefore cannot guarantee the privacy of the guest's data and communications while using the inter-touch Wireless service. Wireless local area network (LAN) services, like inter-touch, include over-the-air communications between the client laptop and the access point that may be illicitly intercepted by equipment and software designed for that purpose. With this, once user data passes through the switch, all the security measures described earlier should be applied.

inter-touch recommends that guests utilize their VPN for optimum security. If guests do not have a company VPN, they can opt for a third party VPN service or gain access to emails via SSL or through the use of their ISP's SSL secured Web Mail.

It is the guest's responsibility to take precautions and security measures suited to their requirements and the intended use of the service.
